We apply a variety of models to explore complex interactions, always in a close dialogue with our clients.

Dr.-Ing. Peggy Mischke has acquired extensive expertise in developing and applying both simple and complex techno-economic models, profen in 10+ peer-reviewed scientific publications.  She is able to choose and apply models to analyse clean power technologies at a project level, power systems under changing policies, as well as regional, national and global energy systems in transition, frequently applying scenario analysis.

EconergyPM - Clean Energy Expertise,
with a network of partners, is also available to dive deeper into techno-economic modelling strategies, data quality questions and model selection criteria for a specific project. We can provide tailor-made ongoing modelling support, capacity building and associated trainings. Examples of the types of mathematical models and scenario planning tools we are working with, together with a specific project example, are listed below:

Levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) model for power plants
Applied recently to analyse concentrated solar power plants, link to model application and description:
  • Electricity generation costs of concentrated solar power technologies in China based on operational plants
Balmorel open-source power sector technology investment model
Applied recently to analyse renewable energy policies in China, links to model application and description:
  • Impacts of a renewable energy quota system on China’s future power sector
  • General Balmorel model website
Global Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model coupled with a global TIMES Integrated Assessment Model
Applied recently for China-specific climate and clean energy policy scenarios in a global context, links to model descriptions and peer-reviewed scientific publications:
  • Closing the gap? Top-down vs. bottom-up projections of China’s regional energy use and CO2 emissions
  • Future energy consumption and emissions in East-, Central- and West-China: Insights from soft-linking two global models
